The Next James T. Kirk...

Star Trek XI is still far off, with a scheduled 2008 release date. However, according to IMDB, the role of Captain Kirk has been cast. It will be......Matt Damon.

Now, Matt Damon is a fine actor. And, with JJ Abrams directing (famed for Lost, Alias and the upcoming Six Degrees), the movie will likely be one of the better installments in the series. However, I am not sold on the casting of Damon. Matt is missing the 'Captain-ness factor', in my opinion. Hopefully, he can pull it off.

Although there are not many details on the plot of the upcoming movie, it is rumored that this is a 'young James T. Kirk and Spock' vehicle set prior to their days on the Enterprise. More rumors can be found here. One can only hope the Ben Affleck as Spock rumors are just hot air.

awesome. The Bourne Federation

Umm, don't you mean, Star Trek X1, not V1?
And Matt Damon is too well identified in other rolls. I'm sure they can find a better Kirk - hopefully.

Yup...I made a typo. It is Star Trek XI for sure. I am probably in the minority, but I could see Colin Farrell as Kirk, especially a young Kirk. He fits the wild, magnetic persona of Kirk, and he has hidden that Irish accent before.

it would also explain how Kirk gets all that space-ass
