'Evil Dead: The Musical'?

I was dutifully reading SciFi Weekly this evening and I found something that utterly amazed me.
I am a big fan of the 'Evil Dead' trilogy (especially 'Army of Darkness'), so imagine my surprise to come across 'Evil Dead: The Musical'. There is no typo in that last sentence - its a musical!

If you are unfamilar with the 'Evil Dead' movies, you are missing out. Check out the wiki for more information - and then run to the video store to see these classics! Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi (with other directing credits from 'Spiderman') created some great, twisted material in these low budget productions. Bruce and Sam are not part of the musical production, but I bet they will be laughing along with the rest of the audience.

It is genius to have converted the concept into a musical. The preview article reports that the production captures the feel of the movies, tying together the plots of 'Evil Dead' I & 2, while throwing in some references to 'Army of Darkenss' for good measure. The creators "...are clearly great fans of the source material, having stuffed their musical to the gills with enough in-jokes, memorable movie lines and blood and gore to satisfy the hardest of the hardcore." That is what a fan wants to hear!

As the article puts it, "...to put it in terms horror fans and theater buffs alike will understand, this show kills." If I am in New York, I am so seeing this show.
