X-Play: The Musical

I'll admit it.

I am a fan of G4TV's 'X-Play'. The hosts, Adam Sessler and Morgan Webb, are consistently smart, interesting and funny - even when reviewing the vilest dreck of video games. In fact, those are often the best reviews (the 'Believe It' Naruto reviews crack me up)! I am going to avoid all references to Morgan being kinda hot for a geek girl, and instead focus on the fact that she has a degree in *rhetoric* with a minor in Italian. I didn't even know you could get a degree in rhetoric!

Strangely enough, I am also a fan of musical editions of regular TV shows. Sure, they have to be more of the variety of 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer' or 'Scrubs' (and not so much 'Cop Rock'), but I do like it when it is done well.

So, just as if I were some sort of ta'varen (Wheel of Time reference!), 'X-Play' is doing a musical. Yup - a full one-half hour dedicated to musically honoring the best video game soundtracks ever. Oh, the synergy!

I think there is a recipe for comic gold here. The musical is ostensibly celebrating the best video game soundtracks of all time. But, what I expect to get is witty, irreverant banter (in song) on a variety of topics, some of which happen to be video games. It will be worth the half hour.

'X-Play: The Musical' airs tonight at 8:00 PM EST on G4TV.
