Sci-Fi News and Reviews

Back On Monday

Well, it's a holy weekend of sorts, with the 133rd Kentucky Derby slated to run on Saturday. I was reading a synchro-mystic post from Etemenanki ("Where the Wind Blows") that references the fact that the Queen of England is going to the Kentucky Derby this weekend. Now, from an admittedly high-level reading of the post, I am picking the trifecta as 2-14-12 (from the final time of the Boston Marathon) and the winner as Great Hunter (because of the connection to the constellation Orion). There are connections here!

Now, if Great Hunter actually draws the second post (which doesn't happen until later today) - run to the make a bet on this sucker! If not, I'll have to go back to the tried and true methods of looking at the horse's past performances...but I still kinda like Great Hunter.

Now, on to more Sci-FI related news. I received a press release from a Bonnie Johnston who wanted me to help spread the news that their was a campaign underway to push for the renewal of the SCI FI Channel original series, "The Dresden Files". Here is a snippet from the release:

The Save Harry Dresden website (http://maenad.tripod.com/saveharrydresden/) contains contact information for SciFi Channel executives, as well as letter-writing tips to help fans get their letters started. For those who want to do more, the site also offers contact information for the show's producers and advertisers; a link to dresdenfiles.org's online petition; and downloadable flyers that can be printed and posted in bookstores and other places where Dresden Fans are likely to gather.

Now, my old TiVo blew up with several "Dresden Files" episodes still unwatched on its lifeless hard drive, so I have only watched a few episodes of the show. I thought it had some potential, especially if they started showing a little more magic and a little less "Bob".

From what I understand, they did me one better - they evidently made "Bob" likeable! A user impression from the press release sums up what I have heard about the latter part of the season - "Every episode is better than the previous one."

So, if you watched the show, go take a look at the Save Harry Dresden site and see if you can help. Heck, if every episode is really better than the previous one, this show is really building momentum and it deserves a second season.

I'll be back on Monday - have a good weekend!

OK..Great Hunter drew the 20th post and the #7 (Street Sense) won the Derby. No correlation at all. I can go back to thinking Synchromysticism is bunk now.
