"Supernatural" Companion Books

SCI FI Wire is reporting that Titan Books has acquired worldwide publishing rights for the official companion books to The CW's best show, "Supernatural".

The first book, which will be very imaginatively titled "Supernatural: The Official Companion Season 1", is scheduled for a US release in September, with a U.K. release in October. According to the article, the book will contain "...behind-the-scenes interviews and exhaustive episode guides" and "dozens of photos, including a 16-page full-color supplement". Pretty good stuff.

In addition to the companion book, The CW website has a preview of "Supernatural Origins", which is a graphic novel exploring the lives of Sam and Dean after the fateful day the Yellow-Eyed Demon (or YED, to us in the know) entered their lives. From the online preview, it looks like the story explores how Sam and Dean dealt with the loss of their mother and, presumably, the transformation of their dad, John Winchester, into a Hunter.

Supernatural is currently one of my favorite shows. It consistently is funny, well paced, interesting and suspenseful. The season finale is next week - but, don't let that stop you from picking up this show! After the first half dozen episoded of season one, "Supernatural" has been one of the most consistently excellent shows on any network (and I mean that!). So, my recommendation - get the DVD, read the Filmfodder Supernatural site and catch up! Season three is not that far away!
