Dr. Beckett is Back!

"No one ever dies in sci-fi"

That's a quote from an interview with Paul McGillion (Dr. Carson Beckett). And, it looks like the quote is prophetic, since the Sci Fi Channel has announced the popular Scottish physician will return in a two-episode arc within the fourth season of "Stargate Atlantis".

Beckett's death was not well received by the fans (I found that out first hand!). I consider it a credit to the "Save Carson Beckett" campaign that Beckett's return seems to be legit and not a simple flashback episode. According to the Zap2It article,

...the producers reconsidered their action and figured out a way to bring him back in the flesh, and not as a flashback or a Beckett from the past or an alternate universe. According to executive producer Joe Mallozzi, a late Season 3 episode offers a "clue" about Beckett.

McGillion seems optimistic that his fans will be satisfied with the story arc. But, no commitment has been made beyond the two episode arc. As McGillion says, "We'll see what happens...I'm not ruling anything out."

At the very least, it is an encouraging sign.

Season Four of :Stargate Atlantis" will premiere on Friday, Sept. 28 and moves to the 10 p.m. ET/PT timeslot.

That is absolutely fantastic to read! It's great to see that the fans can truly have an impact on their favorite shows. Paul McGillion is a wonderful actor and is every bit as deserving of the adoration as it appears.

Cheers!
