Ready to Write a Novel?

Some time ago, I stumbled upon an interesting web site. The site, NaNoWriMo, attempts to help budding authors by spurring them to write (and complete) a full 175 page novel in just one month. Before you criticize the effort, listen to what the website has to say:

"Make no mistake: You will be writing a lot of crap. And that's a good thing. By forcing yourself to write so intensely, you are giving yourself permission to make mistakes. To forgo the endless tweaking and editing and just create. To build without tearing down."

I've got three kids, a big project at work, tennis practice and a nasty MMO addiction - but, I am still considering signing up to write the next great Sci-Fi novel. I am pretty sure that I would never even start writing without this type of deadline to spur my efforts. I even have an idea! Now, I just have to decide to make the leap of faith and put my fingers to the keyboard.

So, is anyone going to try it?

Well, they have a screenplay version of this in June, which I did, and I'm currently looking for financing for that.... I do have another idea that could be a novel, although, it was intended as a screenplay, originally....

I'm one of the MLs (volunteers) for NaNo, and you can bet I'll be writing like crazy again, for the fourth time!

Good luck and good writing!

I am still mulling over an entry. I did the math...and it's about 1500-2000 words a day. So, how do you do that (with work, kids, blogs, life)?

It sounds like a great idea to get writing, though. I give my chances at 90% to join up!
