I am not sure if this is good news or bad news - but I'll report it anyway!
SyFy Portal is reporting that the CW has announced that "Reaper" will replace "Supernatural" as the Thursday partner for "Smallville".
On the good side, "Reaper" is officially on the schedule (that's good!). But, as SyFy Portal noted, "...the drawback is that "Reaper" will go head-to-head with new episodes of "Lost" on ABC." I would say that's not so good.
The CW has stated that this move for "Supernatural" does not mean the show is cancelled (that's good!). In fact, the CW is stating that the last few episodes should air starting January 31st, so this is a great sign for the show. The prevailing thought is that the CW is saving the remaining "Supernatural" episodes for the February Sweeps period - which I say is a good move!
"Reaper" will return on Tuesday, Jan. 15, then switch to the post-Smallville slot on Feb. 28. We can only hope that it can survive the head-to-head competition with "Lost".
Finally, "Smallville" will continue to air reruns until January 31st, then it will begin to air the remaining completed episodes.
Too bad. I love watching Supernatural reruns on the tube. My Thursday nights will - for the first time in 2 1/2 years - be spent away from The CW.
-- Posted by: KayDee at January 8, 2008 10:35 PMThis is a very bad move for the CW to make, and I am sending a petition and letter to them entailing this: The promtions that the fans have been making (which is, I would bet, the only promtion that the show is getting)...will all be utterly useless because they all say that it airs on Thursdays...way to slap the Supernatural viewers in the face CW. Not to mention that moving the series is just one step closer to removing it all together...

There are some good comments over at our the Supernatural section of the the TV Fodder site on this story. That post can be found at the URL I linked in my name.
-- Posted by: Fred at January 10, 2008 4:24 PM"Smallville" and SN are not only great shows, but they flow really well together. I think breaking them apart is a mistake. I think it is an even bigger mistake to put a show like "Reaper" against "Lost". It can't compete.
If this indeed a step towards cancellation, then two great shows are Lost (pun intended) Possibly three, as The decrease in viewers from the loss of those two shows would definitely impact smallville also.

Removing Supernatural altogether is a terrible blow for the show, which will not have the chance to gain a single new fan while the CW 'tests' some of its stupid theories.
I officially can't stand this network any longer. Once SN is off their schedule, the CW is off my TV, for good.
