"Deathly Hallows" To Be Two Movies
I just heard the news that the final "Harry Potter" movie, based on the series' climatic book "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" will actually be TWO movies! Let's milk that money-making cow as long as we can, eh?
At least, that was my first reaction. But, after doing some research, I now think its a great idea. "Deathly Hallows" doesn't have a lot of fluff or side plots that can be discarded. It's pretty much a straight shot to the climax. Daniel Radcliffe agrees, saying: "I think it's the only way you can do it without cutting out a huge portion of the book." (I don't have to say who Dan plays in the movie, do I?)
So, the next logical question is: Where is the split going to be?
The best suggestion that I read (on MTV Movies Blog "Sectumsempra..." post) was to split the movie at Dobby's funeral. It makes perfect sense. As the blog author says, "..I can even picture the last shot of the first film – Harry, crying over Dobby’s grave, sweat pouring down his face, ready to give-up, instead stands tall, his fists clenched, resolved to discover what comes next."
That's a great scene...and it would be a great end to the movie. I just hope they film both movies at the same time - and release them in a reasonable timeframe. I'd hate to wait a year between the two installments!
