"Sarah Connor" Back This Fall

Zap2it is reporting that "FOX has picked up its freshman series "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" for 2008-09". The show was renewed for a 13 episode run for the fall season. I'd say that this is good news!

There were a few things that I really liked about "The Sarah Connor Chronicles". Lena Headey captures the essence of the Sarah quite well. She is obsessed with protecting her son (just like the movies), but they have infused a little something more into her also. I also loved Summer Glau as the requisite protective Terminator - she's just awesome!

But, the main thing that makes me think this series will have some longevity is Thomas Dekker, who plays John Connor. In the movies, I was always disappointed that the future leader of the humanity was a screw-up. In this version, John is very intelligent and you can envision him developing into a leader of men.

So - I can't believe I am saying this, but - Yippee for FOX! On the fall slate, they have at least three planned series - "The Sarah Connor Chronicles", J.J Abrams' "Fringe" and Joss Whedon's "Dollhouse". That would make a pretty fine lineup!

Great news. My third favorite show on TV this year.

You say
"In this version, John is very intelligent"

I think he is 'intelligent' in all versions of Terminator. I just think he has compassion, is less self-centered, and more disciplined in T-TSCC. Traits that are often confused with 'intelligence'.

Doc -

Good point. I am really trying to emphasize that John from the movies really didn't have the right stuff to become a leader. However, I can envision this version of John in that role.
