Sci-Fi Fodder

2008 Fall Sci-Fi Overview

The networks are bringing more Sci-Fi to the airwaves this fall. Although they cancelled five Sci-Fi themed shows ("Moonlight", "Jericho", "New Amsterdam", "Journeyman", "Bionic Woman"), several new shows are signed to replace the losses.

The official count shows that seven new series have been ordered to replace those cancellations. NBC picked up three ("Knight Rider", "The Listener" and "Merlin"), FOX ordered two ("Fringe" and "Dollhouse"), CBS and ABC bought one each ("The Eleventh Hour" and "Life on Mars", respectively), and The CW stayed with the status quo.

In addition to those pickups, there are a few shows that sound Sci-Fi themed, but are not in that count ("Crusoe", "The Mentalist", and even "Kings") and several other shows that have not yet been picked up, but still may show up in the midseason lineup (such as FOX's "Virtuality")

For more lineup details, check out Laurel's Fall 2008 Schedule Grid. She does good work! For my own part, I am planning on doing a post on each network in detail, including the shows that I think might be very, very good. Yeah - I am talking about "Dollhouse", but I'll go into all of the sleepers also. I better get to work!
