I Watch Too Much TV
I watch a lot of TV. Heck, I write a blog on Sci-Fi and I went through and made a spreadsheet of the entire Fall Schedule, so you might think that I am just stating the obvious. But, after I returned from my holiday, I started to set up my two Tivos to record my fall season selections - and *that's* when I decided that I watch more than 'a lot'.
Here is my planned fall viewing slate:
- "Chuck", "Heroes", "My Own Worst Enemy" and "Knight Rider" (NBC)
- "Eleventh Hour" and "Survivor" (CBS)
- "Pushing Daisies" (ABC)
- "Fringe" and "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" (FOX)
- "Supernatural" (The CW)
- "True Blood" (HBO)
- "Eureka", "Sanctuary" (SCI FI)
- "Middleman" (ABC Family)
That's 14 hours per week! I am lucky that shows like "Lost", "Battlestar Galactica", "Dollhouse" and "Merlin" do not start until midseason!
But, my situation is actually much worse that I just depicted. My wife also has an extensive viewing list:
- "The Ex List" (CBS)
- "Desperate Housewives", "Brothers and Sisters", "Dancing with the Stars", "Eli Stone", "Private Practice", "Dirty Sexy Money", "Ugly Betty", "Grey's Anatomy" (ABC)
- "Samurai Girl", "Greek" and "The Secret Life of the American Teenager" (ABC Family)
That doesn't include "So You Think You Can Dance" and "American Idol", which mercifully do not start in September. She adds another 12.5 hours to the TiVo.
That's 26.5 hours of TV recorded per week. Which leaves me two options: quit my job and watch TV full-time, or pair this list down. If the networks act as they have in the past, I might not have to make any hard decisions, as they will cancel half of my shows anyway. But, if the majority of these stick, it's going to be tough.
Anyone else have this issue?
I'm a TV addict. I've turned my fiance into one as well. He bought me TiVo for xmas a couple of years ago and just recently he bought a hi def TiVo for our hi def TV...I actually printed out your schedule and added in some that were missing. I have no idea when I'll be able to watch every single show that's taped, much less watch it live. I haven't watch a show live in years. My fiance is still playing catch up from last season. TiVo is the best and worst thing invented. I LOVE it.
