"Heroes" Rumors and Thoughts

There is a rumor floating around that "Heroes" will be killing off a cast member sometime during the upcoming "Fugitives" run. Our friends over at Screen Rant have a good discussion centering around who this cast member might be.

According to the rumors, the cast member:

  • Has been part of the show since the first season.
  • Has more name recognition than most other cast members.
  • Has had a lack of screen time this season.
  • Is said to be someone who could return even if the character is killed off.

The Screen Rant story makes a very strong guess that Ali Larter ("Nikki", "Jessica", "Tracy") will be the casualty. I could make a pretty good case for Hayden Panettiere ("Claire") too, as she is no longer the catalyst and really doesn't have much of a role these days.

But, the real story here is that I really didn't give this much thought at all. I have been very down on "Heroes" this season (and last season, to be completely honest). That's pretty serious - I created a huge chart to map the lyrics of "All Along the Watchtower" to the "Battlestar Galactica" characters. I still think (and speculate) that Hurley is the key to everything in "Lost". I wonder how Sam & Dean will beat both God and Lucifer in "Supernatural" (at least, I figure that is where the storyline will eventually go). Heck, I still check to see if there is any news on a "Middleman" renewal each week, as I need to know if the "Middleman" knew Dub-Dub's dad.

But for "Heroes", I don't speculate. At all. The show just does not seem to have the internal consistency to engender that kind of thought. I really don't think about the plot much at all these days.

Look - I'll still be watching when "Heroes: Fugitives" debuts on February 2nd. But, it is no longer a 'must watch' show in my book. How long will it stay on your TiVo?
