New "Battlestar Galactica"!

Let be honest - it has been a *very* long time since I've watched a "Battlestar Galactica" episode. Many people (my wife included) probably do not remember the last few events in the storyline. Even so, she still wants to know the identity of the final Cylon!

To help job our collective memory, the SCI FI Channel has provided a 13 minute video that recaps the show to-date.

There are a ton of theories out there, with the most prevalent leaning toward all of humanity being the final cylon. Although this might be true in a larger sense, I suspect that there will be an individual that will be revealed as the last of the final five. To me, the only logical candidate is Adama.

I chose Adama for several reasons. The first is my 'couples' theory - Sam is with Starbuck, Tigh was with Evelyn, Boomer with Helo, Six with Baltar. I am guessing that the couples will have one cylon and one human each as a sign that we all once lived together. Since Roslin and Adama are a defacto couple, one of the two should be a cylon.

From that assumption, it's pretty easy to guess that Adama is the cylon. I mean, I could surmise a huge cylon plot to kill the 30-odd people in front of Roslin so that she would assume the presidency. But, it's a much smaller assumption to show that Adama was subconsciously manipulating things. To wit:

  • He kept the computers off the network on the Galactic
  • He kept Tigh around even though he was a drunk
  • He allowed Sam to become a pilot
  • He had Tyrol as Chief of his flight deck
  • He would be a direct tie to Caprica, with the Greystones and Adamas in the battle over the creation of the first cylon (although, this is admittedly very tenuous)

Anyway, that's my current theory. It's probably horribly, horribly wrong - but I like it!

"Battlestar Galactica" begins its stretch run on Friday, January 16th at 10:00 PM EST. And, as megasite io9 notes, the episode will run a few minutes long, so plan your recording appropriately!
