"V" Remake in the Works
Back in the glorious '80s, Ronald Reagan was President. Times were good and there was a well-received sci-fi miniseries on the air. That show was "V", which spawned a short-lived series.
And, now, it's coming back.
OK, not really. ABC has green lit a new adaptation of the "V" series, but I suspect they are looking for a "Battlestar Galactica" like re-envisioning, as opposed to a "Knight Rider" bland, next generation copy. Straight remakes just don't seem to fly in today's television environment.
The orginal was good enough to be remembered today. For the era, the plot of alien lizard people coming to Earth with ostensibly good, but privately nefarious, intentions, was a very solid concept. But, is there any reason to think the new one will be more "BSG" and less "Knight Rider"/"Bionic Woman"?
I think there is. The new adaptation of the franchise will be written Scott Peters, who was the creator/producer of "The 4400". Peters will also be the executive producer. Now, "The 4400" was simply excellent, so there is reason for hope here. I'll be monitoring the progress as this show approaches the pilot season.
Have to disagree that The 4400 was excellent. Good first season, part of the second ... downhill from there. To the point that they just cancelled it without even concluding the series.
But. A new V series would be amazing!
