"The Middleman" Officially Cancelled

Well, it's finally official. My favorite show from last summer has finally been cancelled.

I knew it was over. All mention of the show was removed from the ABC Family website and the forums were pretty dead. Still, since I had not seen an official cancellation notice, I held out the slimmest of hopes.

That hope is now dead.

Sure, there will be a few "Middleman" related items still to come. A new graphic novel ("The Middleman - The Doomsday Armageddon Apocalypse") will written by series creators Javier Grillo-Marxuach and Hans Beimler, which is reported to be based on the unfilmed last episode. In addition, the DVD set will be released in July.

Although I am very likely to purchase the DVD (and force my friends to watch it), I am not that optimistic that a "Middleman" resurrection can take place. Of course, it has precedent - "Firefly"/"Serenity". But, "Middleman" does not have the backing of the Browncoats, so I am willing to concede that this show will be condemned to the ranks of those who were cancelled before their time.

This show was funny and well written. I'm sad to see another good show cancelled...
