"Powers"
Recently, I noted that ABC Family ditched its the last vestiges of its Sci-Fi programming by cancelling "Kyle XY". I was hoping that someone would fill the void left by the network - and it seems that FX is stepping up!
According to Zap2it, Brian Michael Bendis stated "...that he's finished a pilot script based on his...series Powers". (Note: Powers was co-created by Bendis and artist Michael Avon Oeming.)
"Powers" is about a former superhero, Christian Walker, who has lost his powers. He now works as a homicide detective with his partner Deena Pilgrim (who has powers herself, but keeps them secret). They investigate cases involving other "powers", leveraging Walker's connection to the other superheroes to help solve cases.
I haven't read "Powers" before, but I am familar with Bendis' work from "Alias" (the comic, not the J.J. Abrams show). So, being the diligent researcher that I am, I dug up this sample of the comic. I have to say, it looks like it would adapt well to a live action show. The dialogue is a little quick for a comic (and certainly adult!), but that is typically the mark of a great tv show. I'll be looking forward to more news on the pilot.
