"Flash Forward" is a go.
The new ABC pilot, helmed by Brannon Braga ("Star Trek: Enterprise", "Threshold") and David Goyer ("Blade: The Series", "Threshold") is based on a Robert Sawyer Sci-Fi novel of the same name.
The novel revolves around an a high-energy physics incident that causes everyone on the planet to see a 2 minutes and 17 seconds snapshot of their lives, 21 years from now. Obviously, this has a profound effect on the population of the plant. The show will follow the lives of several people and the effect the incident has on their lives.
Courtney B. Vance ("Law & Order") and Jack Davenport are the leads, filling the roles of an FBI bureau chief and a father trying to reach his son after the incident.
I have mixed feelings on this one. I love the idea of the whole world getting a flash of the future and the concept of the population dealing with the revelations. However, I do remember that "Threshold" was pretty poorly scripted - and the two people that helmed that debacle are leading this show.
Still, with the novel as a starting point, I have some hope that this will work. When the pilot hits the airwaves, we will give it a long look.
