My New Reading List

Christmas (and my family) treated me right this year. In addition to the underappreciated, but dearly needed, underwear and sock collection, I gained a bunch of new reading material. Here's the list:

  • The Runaways (1-18) (in hardcover!). The series features the sons and daughters of an superpowered crime group. The teens rebel against their parents when they discover that their parents are evil. I know that this series has been out a while, but its new to me, and I really like the concept.
  • Invincible (6,7,8) Trade Paperbacks. I loved books 1-5. Invincible is Markus Sebastian "Mark" Grayson is a teenage superhero who calls himself Invincible. He was a normal high school senior with a normal part-time job and otherwise normal life, except his father Nolan is the superhero Omni-Man, the most powerful superhero on the planet. This is also a series that has been around for a long time - but I am still catching up.
  • Heat Wave, by Richard Castle. Yes, written by a fictional character. I love this tie-in to the show Castle, and the Amazon reviews are saying its actually not too bad.
  • "The Gathering Storm", dreamed by Robert Jordan and penned by Branden Sanderson. The long-awaited start of the conclusion to the Wheel of Time saga. It's hard to resist 800 pages of Rand al'Thor goodness.

Now, here's the problem - what to read first? I am currently halfway through a re-read of "The Golden Compass" trilogy, so I have to finish that. I also have an unread copy of "A New Spring" (Robert Jordan), which is a prequel to the Wheel of Time. I picked that one up at the Dollar Store!

Tentatively, I think I am going to jump into "The Gathering Storm" as soon as I complete my current novel. What would you do?
