Taylor Dayne Gets a TV Makeover
VH-1 deserves an award. They're like the Mia Farrow of the entertainment world, taking in all of the cast-offs that so many people have forgotten. Examples: Brigitte Neilsen, Christopher Knight, A Flock of Seagulls, Dave Coulier -- ah, the list is endless.
So it was no surprise when they announced they were making over Taylor Dayne for their "Remaking" reality series. The "Tell It To My Heart" cutie is 40 now, which doesn't play well on the Top 40 charts unless you're Celine, Cher, Aretha or another one-named wonder. So she's getting a little help.
I've got an idea for a song: "Tell It To the Hand." Is another reality show really necessary? In a world where the fate of "Arrested Development" dangles like a carrot, you can apparently get a reality show greenlighted if you send in three proofs of purchase from Lucky Charms.
VH-1's "Remaking" show takes "slightly faded" musicians of the past and reinvents them. In other words, all of the celebrities you never cared about finally have a place to call their comeback. "Remaking" has previously wasted our time with Vince Neil. Set your TiVo to something else on May 1, when they tackle the must-need talent of Vanilla Ice. The Taylor Dayne episode takes up airtime on VH-1 this Thursday at 10 p.m. (EST). -- Rachel Cericola
