American Dreams Dashed
CNN says NBC has decided not to pick up family favorite "American Dreams."
The show had been hailed as a drama for the "American Bandstand" area. A good claim, considering Dick Clark was an executive producer. They certainly has some creative casting, which included Nick Lachey as Tom Jones, Chris Isaak as Roy Orbison, Jennifer Love Hewitt as Nancy Sinatra and Paris Hilton as Barbara Eden, among many others.
There has been speculation about the cancellation for quite some time, especially after two episodes got cut from the 19 scheduled for the series' third season. Also, Zap2it recently reported that TV mom Gail O'Grady ("NYPD Blue") has inked a pilot deal with ABC.
"American Dreams" has won two Emmy awards, proving that critical acclaim doesn't amount to a hill of beans in this short-attention-span season.
"American Dreams" was recently moved to Wednesdays, after spending most of its run on Sunday nights. The show currently is not on NBC's schedule for either spot. Recent episodes seemed to be winding down some of the storylines. There's no word on whether the show will wrap up or if its last episode has already aired. -- Rachel Cericola
