The WB Goes Frogless
A pseudo-icon has passed into the dustbin of history.
E! Online says The WB network has severed its 10-year relationship with Michigan J. Frog, the gregarious amphibian who served as the network's mascot/spokesfrog.
The announcement came friday at a Television Critics Association meeting. "[The frog] was a symbol that was -- especially in the extensive testing that we did -- that perpetuated the young teen feel of the network, and that is not the image we want to put to our audience," explained David Janollari, WB entertainment president.
A new frogless logo was unveiled to the assembled TV critics, but it is not yet available for public consumption. And so we wait with baited breath ... -- Mac Slocum
