Rodrigo Santoro Joins "Lost"

Rodrigo Santoro Actor Rodrigo Santoro -- dubbed "The Brazilian Tom Cruise" by, uh, who knows -- will join the cast of "Lost" in season three. Michael Ausiello of TVGuide.com confirmed Santoro's casting with two reliable sources, "Lost" exec producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse.

In a true stunner, the producers are offering absolutely no details about Santoro's character. Like Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje before him, Santoro is simply listed as a "mystery man."

"We don't really want to be at all specific about what we're doing with the character or what he's going to play," Cuse tells TVGuide.com while gleefully twirling his handlebar mustache (or so I like to imagine). "Part of the surprise and the enjoyment of watching the show is sort of getting a chance to meet a new character and see how his role is going to unfold in relation to the rest of the cast."

Santoro is a big star in Brazil (hence that "Brazilian Tom Cruise" stuff), but he's a relative unknown in the states. He's had small roles in "Love Actually" and "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle." -- Mac Slocum

Awesome. Island golf course will soon be replaced by Island football field!

I could see the guy lending Hurley some batteries for his CD player and forcing him to listen to his bossa nova CD's. Fila Brazillia at gunpoint!

The picture gives it away. Apparently he will be a lifeguard on the island.

Who's next, David Hasselhoff?

#6. Posted by: junger at July 26, 2006 8:10 AM

Maybe The Hoff is "Him"?

I read this today. I don't know much about the interactive game.

The Lost Experience, the online interactive game launched last spring to give fans clues to the island, will spill the meaning behind Hurley's lottery numbers--4, 8, 15, 16, 23 and 42--which are prevalent throughout the show. Their importance will be revealed to gamers who complete the third phase of the challenge.

Has anyone solved it?

This guy is most likely another other, someone Jack and the gang will meet back at Others HQ.

Rodrigo rules!!!!!! Once you get to know him you can't stop loving him....Give the guy a chance....He's a great actor!!!!!!......

#12. Posted by: m.j at July 31, 2006 10:12 AM

Well, the two guys at the end of the final episode were speaking Brazillian-accented Portugese, so we can speculate there's some connection with this new character.

Rodrigo is not the Brazilian Tom Cruise, that's such a bad statement! Rodrigo is a sweet guy, a good actor, and VERY DOWN TO EARTH! He deserves it all!

#14. Posted by: Clarissa at August 6, 2006 12:15 AM

What I really menat was: Rodrigo is a lot better and hotter than Tom Cruise!

#15. Posted by: Clarissa at August 6, 2006 12:18 AM

I WENT TO BRAZIL FOR THE SUMMER AND RODRIGOS IS NOT BRAZILIAN TOM CRUISE! PLEASE THE GUY IS LUCKY TO GET IN THE SHOW!! HE IS THERE BECAUSE HE IS HOT BUT HE CAN NOT ACT!
OHH PLEASEEEE

#16. Posted by: SHARON at August 9, 2006 6:20 PM

It is interesting to say that he doesn'y know how to act just because you were in Brazil for a little bit. What have you seen that you don't like. The guy is an excellent actor...
Another observation, the guys in the end of the season were not speaking "brazilian portuguese". One of them was speaking portuguese from Portugal and the other was trying to speak portuguese but his accent was very strong. This could have something to do with the fact tha Santoro is in the show. We will wait and see...
He is also not only a hot guy. He has played a transexual guy, a priest... he is extremely tallented and we can't say for sure that he will be the new "it" thing.

One more thing: the Tom Cruise thing is not true.. he is not insane, not weird, and can act!

#18. Posted by: jo at August 10, 2006 1:01 PM

RODRIGO is simply an excellent actor. Now he has a chance to show the world his talent. Believe me, he is NOT just a handsome guy. Time will prove. And I agree that he is not the "brazilian TOM CRUISE". RODRIGO is MUCH MUCH BETTER!!!!

Does anyone think that Darma is a real life HAARP?

Google HAARP on the internet and check out what the Canadian Government and the Pentagon are doing in Alaska.

Funny to see retarded comments like this "SHARON" did. Apparently she cannot even read, or she overlooked comment warning #4 on this page...

Anyway, like others said, just because you've been to Brazil it doesn't mean that you know the guy, his work, or the country. So "OHH PLEASEEEE" you.

And no, it's not about being lucky. If he was invited to be in the series, is because directors and creators know about his talent. Ok, his English is not the best (it has to be improved a lot still...), but that doesn't mean he cannot act. I bet you haven't seen any of the Brazilian movies he did. Oh, no, wait! You probably don't watch movies in foreign language, even if they were subtitled... *rolling eyes* So, don't talk about things you don't know.

And that ridiculous statement that he is the "Brazilian Tom Cruise", it probably came from someone that wanted to say how much Rodrigo Santoro drives girls nuts, or how hot he is, just so Americans could have an idea of how famous he is in Brazil. But he has nothing to do with Tom Cruise, neither in looks or actions.

Rodrigo is NO wanna be Tom Cruise, or anyone else. He is really a nice guy, very humble and polite. He is also very serious about his work and is definitely not a person that does anything to be in the media just because. He is a very good actor that happens to be hot. People that says he is just hot and cannot act either don't know anything about his work, or is just saying that by predjudice. Lots of beautiful people are awful acting, but that's not Rodrigo Santoro's case. He is living proof that handsome guys can be good actors too.

But I guess this how it is and always will be when it comes to some foreigner getting attention in this country... I feel sorry for him that will have to face some people disrespecting him just because they are ignorant... Not that he will care, I think, but simply because it's a pain...

I used to live in Los Angeles and Rodrigo was staying over at one of my room mates friends house. He went out to the club with us and i never knew that he was that big of an actor in Brazil. Rodrigo and i talked and he was shy but very nice. Only until i just saw him on tv for 100 of the sexiest celebrity bodies i was like oh my god i hung out with him and i looked him up on the internet.

To those ho never seen Rodrigo Santoro acting just see the movie "BICHO DE SETE CABEÇAS". His acting in this movie was just better than the most of Hollywood actors ... Or even "CARANDIRU" (the movie that he plays a transexual).
Small mind people like SHARON, ho lives stucked in her small world meust die ...
