Grrrrrrrrr, Red...Neck...Man...

Hey, did anyone notice the picture of the Oracle and the Monk on RNM's desk?!?!?!?!?!

Hee, hee...just kidding!

#8. Posted by: Vikki at July 4, 2007 9:06 AM

Interesting - this wasn't how I picture you at all! :)

We actually have a pretty normal group here...LOL

#9. Posted by: meg at July 4, 2007 12:20 PM

It might be fun to post a bunch of photos of the posters and see if people can guess who they are from the photo. Or maybe not. I'll go back to the bbq and beer now...

#10. Posted by: FenwayBen at July 4, 2007 5:15 PM

@FenwayBen/10

I think that's an awesome idea. We could all email pics to mac, he could number and post them, and we could all vote on who we think is who.

That's some funny stuff Clementine. I like your interpretations of Crispy Seaplanes the best!

Speaking of mental images-
Congrats R...N...M

But I'm surprised and a little disappointed. I somehow always pictured you in my head as having long flowing hair like Fabio.

Oh well.

#13. Posted by: JoePike at July 5, 2007 8:42 AM

Nice job Clementine! How ever did you get that picture of me?!

Crispy's was the coolest. Didn't know there really was some "airplane" cereal out there. Might have to "take off" and buy some.

OMDC,

Why, I'm honored.

First, I'm a Bum (Dodger pre-LA), then I'm a Python. Oddly enough, I was just doing the Silly Walk yesterday. We suspect alcohol may have played a part.

But please allow me to ask - Where's our picture(s) of O My Darlin' Clementine? I have a mental picture of Clem, and it looks a lot like this month's cover of Maxim.

#16. Posted by: ransomjackson at July 5, 2007 12:16 PM

@fenwayben - I think that's an awesome idea as well! Funny, even though I have my "mental" pictures, they don't really change when I see the real one.

I would put mine up, but I'm not computer savy enough to figure out how you do the tinyurl with a photo.

I HAVE BEEN AWAY . . .

Greetings from Davidrh.

Just returned from a concert engagement in Oregon to find that RNM has at last revealed his true identity to all of us. (Actually, in one of his emails to me detailing his mailing address, he inadvertently included his business website and I saw his . . well, what can I say . . his obviously boyish Opie-like good looks! A FAR CRY from the Polk County Ocoee River gorge DISCIPLE OF DELIVERANCE we all expected to see! . . . )

However, RNM, you need to send a closeup of the bottom of the award just to prove that it was signed by DarrellAnn especially for you. (That should get the jealous females flocking to your door!)

*****

As a sidenote:

Folks, methinks we need to watch out for Clementine this coming year. Obviously she is getting primed to be a "humor threat". ( I fear I may have sparked a dormant competitive spirit in many a quiet soul this summer . . . )

Let the games begin . . .

#22. Posted by: davidrh at July 6, 2007 8:01 AM

@ davidrh: Yes...I too was BLOWN AWAY that I actually have DarrellAnn's autograph. What you failed to mention (get ready to be jealous guys) is that after her name she put 'XOXOXO'...which where I come from, is gooooooooooood!!!

#23. Posted by: Red...Neck...Man at July 6, 2007 11:45 AM

I couldn't believe it when I saw Clem's pic of Crispy Seaplanes ... it was EXACTLY absolutely EXACTLY as I pictured him! (Except I thought he'd be wearing a scarf)

#24. Posted by: Luvlost at July 6, 2007 11:51 AM

Congrats again, RNM. That neck really doesn't look too red after all!

@ Clementine....I'm waiting for your mental image of me, too! Or is it a case of "be careful what you wish for?"

HEY - way to go! MITS and MITS! (for all of you who have no clue, Meg is 21st and Meg is 27th... long story...)
Anywho... I also think it would be fun to have a "who is who" posting. We could all send our REAL photos to mac and he could post a "who is who" kinda bloggy thingy (my vocabulary is always enhanced by the amount of alcohol I consume) and we regs (that would be regulars for some of you) could vote for "who is who" (except for RNM and davidRh cause I'm sure us regs have already seen his picture (RNM) and awesome website (davidrh))
oh... mah... gawd... I think I've run out of "who is who's" and pararenthasis (sp?). I really don't think in my entire life I've ever had to spell parenthisis (sic)??? You know... it's the part of a smilely face in computer language. :>))
Should I also spell out dot dot dot???

Calcone - take me away...

Hey Clem, that's funny, you know when they introduced Wally I thought it was a horrible idea. Goofy mascots is such a National League thing (San Diego Chicken, Mr. Met, the Philly Phanatic...), I figured we'd been fine witout a guy in a big furry suit for nearly a hundred years, we could keep on keeping on. But I gotta say, I love the guy now. If you haven't seen him in action, check this out:

And like him, I am tall and a total Sox fan. :) But I'm not green :(

As for you, I had more of this in mind:

Happy 07-07-07 to all yall!! Was it me.?. or did I just see John Locke play in the Live Earth Concert at around 10:15 p.m. EST. He also reminded me of Phil Collins, but then again, I'm getting old...

#31. Posted by: BunnyLover at July 7, 2007 10:54 PM

Shoot - totally did it again with the off subject thing. But now that I look at RNM's picture again, he too looks like a young Phil Collins. Humh? Or perhaps, just PERHAPS, a young John Locke???

Hope everyone had a nice 7-7-7 day and that we all win the lottery!

SAVE THE EARTH and all the little bunnies...

#32. Posted by: BunnyLover at July 7, 2007 11:06 PM

@FenwayBen/29: I always suspected you weren’t actually green, but thanks for confirming. Sometimes my antennae needs adjustment : ) That Wally’s pretty cute, but can he sprint like our Pierogies? And yes, we still have the Parrot and Captain Jolly Roger. It’s getting a little crowded on the field these days. But we need something to look at besides the spectacular view (sigh). And if you’re a fan of the Sopranos, you’ll enjoy this “parroty” (I just cracked myself up! Ha!)

http://tinyurl*com/22fwv8
http://tinyurl*com/ytla2b

@GatorGal/25: Sorry, my mental image of you is a little fuzzy, so I don’t think I could do you justice. (My psychic powers come and go, LOL) Maybe someone else has a thought?

@BunnyLover/31/32: Could Locke “feel it coming in air tonight”? Will RNM sing “Sussudio”? Oh, I’d pay to see that. Karaoke night, anyone?

@Diggler/30: Oh, jeez.

#33. Posted by: Clementine at July 8, 2007 12:09 AM

Oh, and FenwayBen, regarding your video image of me (LOL), am I the little girl or the superhero with purplish hair? I do really like the French accent on my name, though, so just call me Clémentine :-))

And BunnyLover, never said thanks for your video of the OMDC movie trailer. Thanks :)

#34. Posted by: Clémentine at July 8, 2007 12:35 AM

My French is awful, but I think Clémentine is the girl in the sailor's outfit.

Wally, the Green Monster, does not race, at least not that I have ever seen. The Brewers have cornered the market by not only having the guy who looks like he escaped from Super Mario Bros to slide down the beer slide, but 5 different sausages running around the field. Fenway Park is short on that kind of stuff, Sox fans go there to actually watch the baseball game. :)

@BunnyLover/#28: Thanks for giving this editor a huge laugh! If you ever need to know... "parenthesis" & "parentheses" (singular & plural). And the dot dot dots are an "ellipsis."

What are you drinking? Could I bum a glass of it from you? : )

@37/Alaïs_Longthought:
If you ever need to know... "parenthesis" & "parentheses" (singular & plural).

Um, when do you only use one and need the singular?

@FenwayBen

>>@37/Alaïs_Longthought:
>>If you ever need to know... "parenthesis" & "parentheses" (singular & plural).

>Um, when do you only use one and need the singular?

When you write (thinking out loud while writing (I suppose) something like this...

And Gramma has to tell you "I think you're short a parenthesis."

#39. Posted by: Gramma Pole Lice at July 9, 2007 11:56 AM

@ Alaïs_Longthought /37 -
Thank you ever so kindly for helping me out with the ( ) thing. (That was a lot easier than actually spelling parenthesis and/or parentheses.) It's also nice to know that parenthesis actually has a plural (insert ellipsis here) who knew?!

ellipsis... would that be like six dots then?

I'd be happy to poor you a drink my good man! My specialty is a dirty martini. Three olives. Shaken, stirred, or on the rocks - I really don't care just as long as it's vodka, not gin.

Again, thanks for the clarification and thanks to you, too, Gramma Pole Lice. (Too many commas there?)

HEY mac - GET A SPELL CHECKER.

#40. Posted by: BunnyLover at July 9, 2007 2:11 PM

@FenwayBen/#38: That is a very good question...I hauled out my Webster's Collegiate dictionary & checked the definition. According to it, "parenthesis" can refer to "one or both of the curved marks." In thinking of my own usage, I say "parentheses" to refer to both of the curved marks, or for more than one set of the curved marks, & "parenthesis" to refer to just an opening or closing parenthesis (or "paren," in editor-speak).

@Gramma Pole Lice/#39: : ) : ) : ) My grandma had some pithy expressions too...

@BunnyLover/#40: An ellipsis is just three dots. I checked the dictionary for "ellipis" & it had no plural listed...I guess six dots is not "ellipses" but "ellipsisses" would be very difficult to say after having one of your Dirty Martinis! I've gotten too old to drink hard liquor, alas, so I'll have to decline your offer of a drink, but I'd be glad to bring a bottle of New Zealand pinot noir to a party. : )

Just found out your a gal not a guy. Sorry about the "my good man" thing. As for the bottle of New Zealand pinot noir - bring it on! Now, where can we have a party? At Fenwayben's place (Hawaii) for the S4 opener? YES!

Oh, and what I meant by the "ellipsis... would that be like six dots" in post 40 was: If you type the word ellipsis and follow it by three dots, would that then be a total of six dots since an ellipsis means three dots?

How's your head now davidrh?

#43. Posted by: BunnyLover at July 10, 2007 11:28 AM

I used to do somn contracting at the North Carolina Department of Transportation (which was course, commonly abreviated to D.O.T. and pronounced as one word "dot".

My email address there was crose@state.dot.nc.us

Of course when you read that over the phone, that comes out (phonetically):

"See Rose at state dot dot dot en see dot yew ess"

Talk about confusing.

COMMENT WARNINGS
  1. If your post contains spoilers -- or even hints at spoilers -- add ***** SPOILERS ***** to the top of your comment.
  2. Your post will NOT immediately show up if you post any URLs. Because of ongoing spam issues, I need to manually approve comments that include links. This sucks, but it's the only solution at this time.
  3. Super-long URLs screw up the page. If you post one of these, people will get very angry at you and really, no one wants that. The solution is easy. Go to www.tinyurl.com and create a mini URL.
  4. Do not post under multiple identities and then have inane conversations with yourself. This kind of nonsense will get you banned from the blog.
  5. Do not post in ALL CAPS FOR YOUR ENTIRE POST. In netiquette, all caps suggests you're screaming. In etiquette, it's lame. All-caps posts will be deleted.
  6. Please scan through previous posts to see if someone has already addressed your theory or comment.
