Lost Caption: Bring on the tourists!

Last year, as LOST steamrolled towards the season finale shocker, one of the biggest mysteries was finally solved. The Island has been found! What does this mean for the Island? You guessed it.... Tourism! Before long, people from around the world will be flocking to the newest, most popular Island getaway vacation.

Update: I removed the jigsaw applet because it did not work properly for everyone.

For this special edition of the LOST Photo Caption, here's a Postcard from the Island's new gift shop. Come up with a caption for the postcard, or write your own postcard from your island vacation. In lieu of a caption, the Island's new Department of Tourism is also looking for ideas for a series of TV commercials that they hope will lure more vacationers to the Island. I heard a rumor that Marvin Candle has already signed a contract to appear in several of them.

The long wait is nearly over! Only to go until Season Four!!

Over the extended break, it's been a constant struggle for me to avoid succombing to the deadly symptoms of SHOLW (Sheer Horrors of LOST Withdrawal). I compared my own obsessive behaviors to those found on this comprehensive listing of Signs that you're a diehard LOST fan. (Of course, I don't have to explain obsession to to anyone who stares at their computer screens hitting refresh every few seconds, anxiously awaiting mac's next episode recap.)

Submit your captions, comments, and LOST ramblings along with your ideas for a commercial that will help boost the Island's tourism. On behalf of the DeGroots, Alvar Hanso and all of us here at the Lost Blog - thank you, Namaste and good luck!
Four Toed Statue

"We were going for a full statue of you, Jacob, but the funding ran out."

#4. Posted by: Cecil Rose at January 17, 2008 2:31 PM

Plz put the picture up!

I am not going to change all of my java/scriplet/applet security just to play a simple jigsaw.

I even added filmfodder to my "trusted sites", and I would still need to change a dozen security settings to "jigsaw"

Not worth my effort - though I appreciate yours. [8^)

"Visit Lost Island for a vacation that won't cost you an arm and a leg."

#6. Posted by: bcre8ve at January 17, 2008 4:46 PM

"Toe be or not toe be, that is the question."

or, loosely translated...

"Where be my other toe?"

#7. Posted by: bcre8ve at January 17, 2008 4:51 PM

Making a statue that large is no easy feet.

#8. Posted by: bcre8ve at January 17, 2008 4:53 PM

CLAIRE: Wow, look at that statue. I wonder if there are any more on the island?

JIN: Since the right foot is missing, I guess this is the only one left.

#9. Posted by: bcre8ve at January 17, 2008 4:59 PM

JACK: Wow, look at...

JOHN: Shh, something strange is a foot.

#10. Posted by: bcre8ve at January 17, 2008 5:09 PM

PREHISTORIC RULER: (To statue artist) No, I said fifty foot "SUNDIAL", not "SANDAL!"

--- Unable to get a US work visa due to the illegal alien invasion there, former Lostie, now Tour Director, Jin Kwon describes to his tour group ---

Jin: "...and then after the Mighty Michael loped the 2 ton landing gear from Oceanic Flight 815 off of my wrist like Paul Bunyan, he run down the beach all crazy-like. That when he go nutso on the Homer Simpson statue you see off to the left..."

Tour Group: "ohhh!"

Jin: "Now you look here in the glass bottom of our boat and you see deep below the dark outline of a once mysterious scientific outpost where the native islanders once exiled their female scientists and technicians that 'only liked other female scientists and technicians', if you know what mean... that where my good friend Charlie Pace gave his life to save us all."

[A Dharma shark, tattoo clearly visible, swims just beneath the glass.]

Tour Group: "ahhh!"

[Just then, the partially decomposed body of Charlie floats up into the glass viewing window, face-up.]

Tour Group: "EWWW!"

Jin: [soberly] "ohh, Charlie-san! I feed you fish for so many months… now you feed the fishes."

Sawyer: "Damn sweet-cheeks, I always heard there were gigantic monsters on the island... I just always thought they were like... dinosaurs or something."

Kate: "There were dinosaurs on the island!... but J.J. shipped in the man monster from the Cloverfield movie and squashed all of the Jurassic Park dinos' that Spielberg left after he finished filming. J.J. wanted to build a monument to his victory, but after the movie tanked, all of the funding fell apart and - well you can see this is as far as it got."

Sawyer: "Whatever... what say you and me head up-island and go skinny-dipping for more of the Marshalls' firearms?"

Kate: "Naa... Hurley's my main squeeze now - he is worth millions."

(Sawyer immediately and repeatedly begins to projectile vomit.)

Postcard from the Edge:

Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh
Here I am at Camp Dharmada
Camp is very entertaining,
And they say we'll have some fun in combat training.

I went hiking with Ben Linus
He’s afflicted with eye dryness.
Carl’s nice girlfriend, quite the skinner
Made a rabbit tartar last night for my dinner.

All the Losties hate the Others
And the island kills the Mothers.
Now I don't want this should scare ya,
But a polar bear was sited in the area.

Four-toed statues, Dharma hatches
Angry Russians with eye patches.
Looking Glasses, underwater
Crazy Frenchwoman obsessed with missing daughter.

Take me home, oh Muddah, Fadduh,
Take me home, I hate Dharmada!
Don't leave me out in the jungle where
The whispers fill the air.

Take me home, I promise I will not make noise,
I think they ate the other boys.
Oh, please don't make me stay,
I saw a Smoke monster today...

Dearest Fadduh, darling Muddah,
I don’t wanna be an Odduh.
Let me come home if you miss me,
Richard Alpert’s been here since 1860.

Wait a minute, sky turned purple
I flashed forward through a black hole.
Jacob wants to be my best friend
Muddah, Fadduh, get me off this crazy island!

Clementine - hello mudda

Man, you rock! That was funny as hell.

#19. Posted by: ButchM at January 18, 2008 4:54 PM

Hats off to Clementine - I still have all of my parents' Allan Sherman albums from the 60's... along with Bill Cosby and the Smother's Brothers albums.

You had me (singin' along) at Hello Muddah...

My twist - "Hello Alvar... Doctor Candle."

Disappointed a little in the link - I was hoping it was your version of 'Camp Dharmada', not the orig Camp Grenada. Still awesome though.

RNM beware - no repeat championship this season.

Tourist attraction at Craphole Island: The actual stomping foot from "Monty Python's Flying Circus!"

(It's a musical postcard. You press a button and it starts playing the Monty Python theme song.)

What are the two things LOST fans are looking forward to most?

1. Season premier of LOST
2. Next appearance of Laffo
3. Answer to how many episodes have actually been completed

Gettin' jacked up ya'll!!

#23. Posted by: Red...Neck...Man at January 22, 2008 4:52 PM

O Laffo, Laffo, wherefore art thou Laffo?
Deny thy father and refuse thy name;
Or if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love
And I'll no longer be a Clementine.

#24. Posted by: Clementine at January 22, 2008 6:17 PM

I should have been more LOST, I must confess, but that thou overheard'st, ere I was 'ware, My true love... the Others. Therefore pardon me, and not impute this yielding to LOST love, Which the Swan Hatch hath so discovered.

They say Jacob laughs. O gentle Marvin,
if thou dost experiment, pronounce it faithfully. Or if thou thinkest I am too quickly LOST, I'll frown and be perverse and say nay Looking Glass.

I just read this post and wanted to say it is full of number one resources. Some I am familiar with. For those who don’t know these other sites they are in for a treat as there is a lot to learn there.
