Ocean's 11 was a sloppy, unfunny movie to begin with, mostly a sop for Frank Sinatra's raging ego (he was the least appealing person in the entire film--Dean Martin and Peter Lawford left him in the dust--Joey Bishop was more appealing, for Christ's sake)--It was also a film about Vegas that was too chickens--t to mention the mob. Skip it and spend the money on a decent remake of YOUNG AT HEART (great movie w/Sinatra and Doris Day) and you'll get ME to the box-office.IP: Logged |

Yeah, Ocean's 11 was downright awful. But I would much rather see a GOOD version of a disastrous heist pic that had potential than ANY remake of a movie that was good to begin with. You're right that Young at Heart is a gem -- why pretend to improve on it when there is so very, very much to improve on with Ocean's?IP: Logged |

This board seems rather dead! I just thought I'd post a heads up for the folks who are interested in film soundtracks. The Ocean's 11 soundtrack looks fabulous according to its playlist. A great collection of David Holmes tracks plus some other nice tunes thrown in. The website is simple right now (www.oceans11music.com) but it's got the track list down. Like "Out of Sight" before it, "Ocean's Eleven" bleeds cool. This is a fantastic, sleek, fun-as-hell diversion that never takes itself too seriously, thereby letting the audience in on the sheer fun these guys had. It's a crime that George Clooney and Brad Pitt -- two guys who pretty much have it all -- are allowed to have this much fun in a film. Jealousy aside, it's worth the time and money -- and the soundtrack RULES.IP: Logged |
