A couple of quick updates on this production:

Nic Cage will not be involved - which is a blessing in my eyes

John Malkovich has been rumored as a villain

I don't like nic cage for the same reason Sean Penn doesn't like him -- he has obvious talent that he wastes in crap like "Gone in 60 Seconds". After winning the Oscar for "Leaving Las Vegas" he's done NOTHING of substance.

Yes, he was attached to the Superman production for a couple years, but that movie fell through.

Columbia Pictures has pushed "Spider-Man" back to May 2002. Read all about it on the Spidey Spotlight Page.

I'm awfully disappointed that Tobey Maguire is playing Spiderman. And with Katie Holmes in the movie, it'd just seem like some teenage punk fest. Maguire's too much of a wimp and Holmes is weak too. So much for this film.

I wouldn't count it out just yet, especially if Sam Raimi injects some of the humor he used in the Evil Dead movies.

Tobey will be fine as long as he doesn't have to deliver any rousing speeches -- his attempts at heartwarming melodrama fell short in "Cider House Rules"

But I'd like it if Raimi made fun of the geek. A self-deprecating performance could be entertaining, despite the pussy face.
