The first big summer movie arrives May 25. This is the place to talk about "Pearl Harbor."

Pearl Harbor was terrible. I couldn't believe how bad it was. I've seen Tora, Tora, Tora a few times in my life and that movie had more impact than the new pearl harbor movie. I don't know why they mixed up the attack sequence. It was all wrong except for the U.S.S Arizona bombing. I can't imagine ever making a movie about a love triangle and a serious battle that took 2000 American lives in less than half a day. I can't imagine FDR standing up either and who's Captain Hanks? I think they should label this categorize this movie under fantasy/drama. If you want to remember Pearl Harbor then watch Tora, Tora, Tora or buy a non-fiction pearl harbor book. This new movie is nothing, but fantasy. The real pearl harbor attack is so much different than what the new movie told. This tells you that pyrotechnics and special effects are more important than historical research. If you want to learn about Pearl Harbor don't watch the new movie. I would wait until it comes out on rental. don't waste your money.

JMnelson I agree wholeheartedly. I had serious misgivings about this film because of the Bay/Bruckheimer connection, but it managed to dive even deeper into the crap-filled waters than I expected. It's a pathetic piece of cinema that is an insult to the men and women who died and for all WWII veterans.

Playing with eye candy for something like "Armageddon" is fine. Reworking history and injecting it with a horrible love story (itself unbelievable and hard to watch) is a travesty.

It's certainly on the list, although I'd give "Battlefield Earth" a higher slot.
