Filmfodder Privacy Standards

Contrary to what you might gather from reading our news and commentary (if you can call it that), we do take a few things seriously. One of those things is online privacy.

Like most sites, Filmfodder gathers general information about traffic and usage. In doing so, we have access to some user information. Our logging procedure allows us to know the most common IP addresses that visit our site and we can also discern things like the most popular browser and the most active days and hours. However, we do not associate real people to their IP addresses, nor will we ever do so.

If you visit the Fodder Network forums the forum software will save a cookie onto your hard drive. Don't worry, a cookie isn't a bad thing. The general information stored on this cookie makes it possible for you to visit the forums without logging in and out all the time. Fodder Network staffers have no desire to acquire your computer cookies. Even if we did, we don't have access to them.

Filmfodder and a number of other sites in the Fodder Network also use Google as a third-party advertising vendor. In March 2009, Google implemented "interest-based advertising," a method of serving targeted ads based on usage patterns. This technique relies on a cookie being placed on your system. You can opt out of Google's interest-based program at any time (Note: opting out of this program will disable interest-based advertising for all Google-served sites you visit; this includes Google properties and sites in the Google content network.)

Some Fodder sites also display ads from ValueClick, which is a member of the Network Advertising Initiative (NAI). Per ValueClick's standards, users can opt out of information collection at any time by visiting the NAI opt-out page.

Despite the relative safety of cookies, you may want to configure your browser to warn you anytime a site requests to save a cookie to your hard drive. You can also have you browser reject cookies, but this could impair your ability to visit some Web sites.

Fodder Network sites do not require membership to view news and features, but forum users are asked to submit a small amount of personal information (email address, username, etc.) to gain full forum access. Only select Fodder Network staffers have access to this information and all email listings are password protected and unavailable to the general public. You can rest assured that we will not sell your email address or anything else to a third party. Also, you will not receive unsolicited email from the Fodder Network unless it's vitally important. Last time we checked, nothing we do is particularly vital.

In compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA), Filmfodder does not collect any information from children under the age of 13. Individuals 13 or under who wish to join Fodder Network forums or sign up for our weekly newsletter must have a parent contact us at before submitting any information.
