The Lost Blog

Lost: Oh, Crap!..Will the Sun rise again?

In honor of the most intriguing (yet short) Point #3 ever, it must be our responsibility to inform the masses about the potential future of Sun and her mystery baby. Is she doomed? Is the baby doomed? Will Charlie meet his demise when he helps to try and deliver said baby, and said baby loops his umbilicle cord around Charlies neck all noose-like? What is to happen to Sun when 'No-Preggers-Island' rears it's ugly head?

When Sun starts to get all sickly, Juliet will inform her there's no hope for her, as even her magical serum won't be able to save Sun. Whe Sun hears the problem occurs at CONCEPTION, she'll have to admit the baby could have been conceived off the island (with Mr. "I fell farther than Locke and didn't survive and didn't even get a lousy t-shirt).

Jin will go postal and Juliet will go all ninja on him and win. Juliet will inform Sun that her magical serum actually will work for her like it did for Claire, who also conceived off the island.

Then the show will end before Sun even starts to show since 5 years of our time = just a few months of Lost time. So this whole Sun pregnancy thread is moot!

Was this entry just to spawn discussion? I come here for Mac, not a forum thread.

@ schiano : Yes, this is an additional discussion question/thread to mac's blog. An alternative filler question to spark more discussion in the down days after Wednesday's show. With mac's blessing of course....

#3. Posted by: Red...Neck...Man at April 16, 2007 4:31 PM

I'm not sure what will happen to the baby, but Sun is in a whole lotta trouble if Jin turns out to not be the daddy & he finds out about the "I fell farther than Locke and didn't survive and didn't even get a lousy t-shirt" guy (Thanks JoePike - made me LOL.) Whew - would love to see Ninja Juliet & Jin have at it!

#4. Posted by: BunnyLover at April 16, 2007 4:48 PM

"OH CRAP" may be what the folks at ABC must be saying after MSNBC listed "Lost" as one of the top 5 shows they would like to see go away.
After this year, I am finding it hard not to agree with them.

#5. Posted by: gables79 at April 16, 2007 5:26 PM

Maybe the father of the baby (presumably Jin)will be needed somehow in order for the pregnancy to be sucessful(blood transfusions or something). Jin can't help because it will be determined that he's not the father! What!?!?

I come here for the waffles and the lively and comedic camaraderie following the late show at Blinko's Window Tinting and Sorbet Emporium . . .

OH . .no, wait...that was a dream I had last night.

Mr. "I fell farther than Locke and didn't survive and didn't even get a lousy t-shirt will turn up in the magic box to claim Sun's baby as his own. Then Howard Stern will appear to defend the pregnant, cheating Sun and make his own claims on the baby. (He knows Sun secretly dug up the diamonds and has them hidden in the caves.) This all after Sun mysteriously dies from a serum overdose provided by Juliet. All of this predicted by Desmond, of coarse.

#8. Posted by: LiSa at April 17, 2007 7:59 AM

I think this is the way they will all be saved. Juliet will experience her first success story with Sun. Ben will let her go, the end of the series. Sun conceived on the island - she's finished being a "ho" and realized her true love - all thanks to the island.

#9. Posted by: meg at April 17, 2007 8:45 AM

Short term focus should be on Sun... but I could see the idea some of you suggested happening... That they will drop the bomb on us that Juliet or Kate is pregnant by the finale!

#10. Posted by: R at April 17, 2007 9:21 AM

A few nuggets of info were obviously given to us by the writers...

1) Paternity is in question, but we KNOW Sun had an affair and we know Jin is sterile. The timing is still questionable to be certain WHO the father is, because if Sun is 3 months along now she should be showing soon.

2) Juliet mentioned that she believes the EBS begins at conception which will be crucial information once we find out if Sun and baby are in danger. If conceived on the island = sick. If conceived off the island = ok w/ serum. Only time will tell, but I presume all of this has been presented to us so that it becomes obvious who the father is, depending on what happens to Sun & Jr.

3. If Sun never acknowledges any possible father than Jin, it will be assumed that the baby was conceived on the island (especially because their marriage was significantly on the rocks prior to Jin's return from the raft). Sun's pregnancy will proceed normally, Juliet will think she cured the problem, Ben will agree, and he'll have to let her go home, because she finally succeeded or so they think. Possible finale???

#11. Posted by: hookedonlost at April 17, 2007 9:56 AM

I am the father of Sun's baby.

Zsa Zsa's Hubby.

#12. Posted by: Daddy at April 17, 2007 10:52 AM

Here's my take on what'll happen.

Sun and Juliette will discover that the baby is Jin's and Juliette will convince Sun to start the injection therapy. You see Claire was Juliette's succesful experiment with a pregnant woman that conceived off the island, now she'll get the chance to experiment on a woman that conceived on the island to see if her miracle drug will finallyy save the island's women from dying during childbirth. Either that or they find out Sun really isn't pregnant and that the morning sickenss was just gas.

@schiano: I'm a little late to the party on posting this week, but I feel compelled to clarify the "Lost" Question. It's just a fun little diversion to pass the time between episodes and I think it's a nice addition to the site. So these questions will pop up from time to time.

After 5 kids, if I let the fact that my wife was gonna be a mom stop me, I would be one lonely dude!

PS--my wife's even half Korean!

#18. Posted by: Crispy Seaplanes at April 17, 2007 3:24 PM

Nice question, but here's a thought I had a while back. (spoiler??)If they say the show will only run 6 seasons and about a month goes by each season, then by the end of it all Sun will only be 6 months (end spoiler???) and (i think) the Others said the women died during birth or at least that's what we've seen.

P.S. i don't think that was a spoiler, but I added it just in case.

#19. Posted by: Mary at April 17, 2007 5:04 PM

@ Crispy Seaplanes - is she half NORTH Korean or half SOUTH Korean?

Sun will end up peddling cosmetics near a London river, thereby selling Avon by the Avon.

#24. Posted by: mac at April 17, 2007 6:02 PM

sorry mac
my bad!
I kind of got things going on that tangent there...couldn't help myself!

OK So maybe Sun's child has no father. Maybe the midichlorians creted it. It will be so strong in the Force that Sun will survive (at leaast until she is captured by Tusken Raiders!)

#25. Posted by: Crispy Seaplanes at April 17, 2007 9:49 PM

What if...Claire's collapse had nothing to do w/any sort of "anti-EBS serum" that the kindly Dr. Burke had her injected with? Suppose it was solely due to the implant that Ben mentioned? But thanks to Juliet's injection, the Lostaways now trust her, at least for help w/pregnancy. And now anyone who's pregnant will think that they need some of that anti-EBS serum & go to Juliet for help, thereby putting themselves in her power.

Also, I'm curious just how it's discovered who the father of Sun's child is. Does Juliet take Sun back to Otherville for advanced DNA testing? I don't exactly think the beach facilities lend themselves to much in the way of laboratory equipment...

So Hurley is gonna tell Jin about the island conception/birth issue (in English of course) and Jin will perfectly understand. He will find Ben's wish box and summon up the Maury Povich show for paternity tests.

Seriously though, could the island heal sterility? If not, Sun is in trouble..with her hubby..not EBS.

#29. Posted by: kilorooster at April 18, 2007 8:43 PM

@gables79 - That is so funny, because MSNBC is on *my list* of 5 things I wish would go away this year!

#30. Posted by: jane at April 19, 2007 10:08 AM

Re: your first paragraph, I think that is the general assumption, that Claire's illness is strictly related to the implant's activation, not anything island or post-partum related.

I think Sun's concern re: her pregnancy will force her to reveal the baby's father's identity to Jules, altho in typical Lostie fashion, she won't tell anyone for a while.

It will eventually get back to Jin and due to his time spent learning English listening to Hugo, will vent his anger in his first verbal explosion in English that includes frequent uses of "dude!"

Jules will turn from her evil Darth Lord ways and return to her true self as "Dr. Burke, Medicine Woman" and help Sun with her pregnancy and delivery.

If the other threads really bother you, just scroll up to the top right and click "Season 3 Reviews" and that's all you will see. Bookmark that and you won't even have to click it next time.

But... you will be missing a lot of creative (and Cre8tive) and seriously funny stuff.

Good Luck, and Namaste.

Hmm. Having a problem with logistics here. As set-up, here is a snipet from ABC's official summary of next week's Sun-centric episode:

"After discovering that all of "The Others'" pregnant women died before giving birth on the island, an extremely reticent Sun allows Juliet to examine her -- and uncovers the identity of the unborn child's father."

I'm no doc, but in order to determine paternity don't you need DNA samples of the possible fathers? If so, then the only guy who could be daddy is Jin - right?

Unless....another islander is the dad (Michael? Ben?) Perhaps The Others impregnated her via invitro?

How can Sun's lover be the dad if ABC says the father's identity will be uncovered? Do The Others have a sample of HIS DNA in their medical lair?

Am I missing something here or is there no way that the lover dude (i.e. Mr. High Diver) can be revealed as the proud pop based on an examination by Juliet?

#33. Posted by: GatorGal at April 20, 2007 10:58 AM

@GatorGal/#33: That makes sense. Unfortunately there's some magic box thingy that could thwart all theories. Can't wait till that's explained for us.

#34. Posted by: Red...Neck...Man at April 20, 2007 11:22 AM

@ #33. I'm going out on a limb here - based on season 1 observations, Michael will be revealed as Sun's Baby Daddy!

#35. Posted by: amelia at April 23, 2007 6:44 PM

I think that Sun will be the next to be kidnapped by the others so they can experiment on her as they will assume that she has conceived on the Island. Jin will now be able to speak English so will be able to communicate without her.
