Season 5: Was It Worth It? I Think Maybe Not
|
|
They fought a tough battle against the most covert cable network on the
planet to bring their favorite show back from cancellation and against all
odds came away with a partial victory, an abriged fifth season of "La Femme
Nikita." But now the elation and excitement have died down, only the final
episode of the series is left to air this coming Sunday, and Lorraine Evans,
also known as Babe to her many friends in the world of "La Femme Nikita"
forums, and as the Official Hussy Mom to those at the Heyn's Hussies board, is
not so sure it was really worth it. Read what she has to say.

Wilson Gets Girlie In January
|
|
There hasn't been what one would call a lot of publicity for the upcoming
Showtime mini-series "A Girl Thing," co-starring La Femme herself, until Entertainment Weekly aired its
mini-segment of this week's L.A. premiere.
The series premise, according to the Showtime web site, is about a psychiatrist
who listens to women grappling with their unique challenges, such as
suddenly being attracted to another woman, having a husband who is having
an affair, and struggling with a mother's death.
While there was no sight of Wilson at the premiere, some of the series'
other high-profile co-stars, namely Kate Capshaw, Camryn Manheim, Elle
MacPherson, Allison Janney, Rebecca De Mornay, and Stockard
Channing all got roughly two seconds in front of the ET cameras, mostly to
share their surprise and joy with high-pitched "Oh my God! Fabulous!" responses to
the news that Calista Flockhart has adopted a
cute baby boy.
The first segment of "A Girl Thing" airs on January 20 and 29 at 8 p.m.,
and the second installment, featuring Wilson, hits TV screen nationwide on
January 27 and 30, also at 8 p.m.

Weekly Question: How Did You Get Hooked?
|
|
It's only 20 more days until the premiere of Season 5, and while either
anticipation or apprehension is at an all-time high for most LFNers, the
inevitable end is just around the corner. So, with the year, the
Millennium, and TV's best show ever drawing to a close, I thought it time
to look back at how it all got started. Just when, how and why did you get
hooked on this fantabulous series? It's ok, you can tell us everything in
the Nikita
Forum. We understand.

"First
Look" At Season 5 Online
|
|
With LFN set to come to an end in the forseeable future, around mid-March
of 2001, it seems
that those in charge are finally trying to promote this often-underrated
gem of a TV show.
In addition to USA's New Year's Day marathon, Warner Brothers' official Nikita site now
sports a banner
announcing the December 13 premiere of "First Look," a short film
previewing the upcoming
fifth season, available exclusively online. So if January 7 is not soon
enough for you, be
sure to check out "First
Look" tomorrow.

LFN Marathon Schedule Unveiled
|
|
It's another 26 days until the January 7 premiere of the fifth and final
season of LFN, but
USA Networks, possibly in an effort to make amends for its abominable
treatment of fans
throughout the show's 4-year run and particularly during the SaveLFN
campaign, is kicking
off the real new millennium with a 12-hour LFN marathon on New Year's Day.
From 11 a.m.
until 11 p.m. there will be back-to-back episodes from all four seasons,
except for the Noon
to 1 p.m. time slot, during which, yet-unconfirmed rumor has it, interviews
with cast
members may be aired. Check out the exact episode line-up here.

Weekly Question: Future Cast Projects?
|
|
All good things must come to an end eventually, but there is little doubt
that the talented cast members of LFN will continue to grace the screens
big and small after the series concludes its four-and-a-half year run on
USA in the Spring of 2001. Inquiring minds here at Filmfodder want to know
what roles you would like to see them take on, so add your .02 in the
Nikita Forum.

Post-LFN, Matthew Ferguson Returns To The Stage
|
|
Recently writer Karin Davies, aka Northstar, accepted a Flash Mission issued
by fellow operatives at the Heyn's Hussies board. The
objective: See Matthew Ferguson in the play "Glace Bay Miner's Museum" and
tell him personally that his loyal LFN fans wish him the best of luck. So on
November 9 she packed up her mission gear a camera and a bag of Oreo
cookies and drove to Sudbury, Ontario, where she found Ferguson happy to be back on stage, and still fond of his trademark LFN snack. Read her full debrief here.
